PHI Specialized Hospital for Nephrology Struga

Struga, or the city of two waters as many travel writers like to call it, is a unique blend of natural beauties. History, tradition and cultural heritage intertwined with the diversity of ethnic influences provide each visitor with a different experience. It was in this city that, 46 years ago, with the enthusiasm of a group of young doctors, the idea of nephrology in Struga was born, or rather, it had its beginnings on September 7, 1978, when the first hemodialysis was successfully performed. Since 1984, it has been operating as the largest regional center for nephrology and urology, the only one of its kind at the secondary level in the country, immediately after the University Clinic for Nephrology.

Our hospital is located just 50 meters from the beautiful Ohrid Lake. It is one of the Europe's deepest and oldest lakes with  a unique aquatic ecosystem  of worldwide importance. Knowing the pathology of chronically kidney-ill patients, the hospital is conceived as such to be a second home for patients. It works 24/7 for 365 days. There is always an on-call team in case of emergencies.
Hemodialysis sessions are performed every day, first and second shift, excluding Sunday when only urgent hemodialysis are performed.

In our hospital works 21 specialist and sub specialist doctors, 9  doctors are on specialization, 117 medical staff persons and 47 administration and services staff. Beside that in our hospital we have internal department, sophisticates Laboratory and Microbiology departments, Radiology, Echo cabinet, Physical therapy. In addition to patients from the country, the hospital also treats patients from Albania, Kosovo and Serbia. The hospital has signed agreements with appropriate health institutions from Belgium, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Germany, etc. and provides medical health services to foreign residents as well as to our Macedonian citizens living abroad.
